Karyn Cantor is the owner, creator, and designer of Classic Hardware, a jewelry and accessories line blending vintage style with post-industrial edge. Influenced by Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and a touch of Dadaist humor, her designs celebrate individuality, sophistication, and sass.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Karyn began making bold statement jewelry as a teen in the early ’80s LA punk scene, repurposing thrift store finds into wearable art for nights at clubs like the Whisky on Sunset. She later studied photography at Rutgers and San Francisco State University, taught creative arts in the Bay Area, and exhibited her sculpture and photography in galleries and music publications.

Founded in San Francisco in 1995, Classic Hardware began with pocket watches and evolved into distinctive, USA-made accessories for men and women. Known for its Retrolite and image-based pieces, the brand collaborates with renowned artists worldwide, fusing low-brow, high-brow, and pop surrealism. Notable collaborations include Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Tinkerbell.

Classic Hardware has been featured in Vanity Fair, InStyle, Teen Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, and worn by celebrities including Emily Blunt, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Kerry Washington. Pieces have appeared on Glee, Sex and the City, Project Runway, Bones, and more.
